- The factory, between Egham and Staines in Surrey was taken over by new management in 1935 and as war loomed it was decided that a works fire brigade should be formed. This was particularly important because Lagonda's highly experienced engineers were transferred from motor cars to a full-time role supporting the war effort. They made parts for the Hawker Hurricane and a serious fire at the factory could have been disasterous. Post war, the factory premises were sold in 1947 and the site is now a Sainsburys supermarket. |
